Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing on an energetic level. The word Reiki consists of two Japanese words - Rei which means “God's Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki (Chi) which is “life force energy”. Life force energy flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.
If one's life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. All matter consists of energy, including our bodies, and Reiki is simply transmitting universal healing energy through the hands. This energy is not guided by the practitioner, but the energy has its own innate wisdom to guide itself.
Reiki is a holistic, simple, natural and safe method of healing and self-improvement that everyone can use and can positively affect the physical body, emotions, mind, and spirit resulting in many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. It is universal and is being used in many settings, including hospitals, hospice, as well as in private practice and in self-care.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion, has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki.
Loose, comfortable clothing is suggested and the practitioner can either be hands-on by applying a light touch during the session, or hands-off where they will hold their hands slightly above your body.
“We are not human beings having a Spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having an Earth experience.”
